G Shock Trend or Fashion Statement?

We have heard and seen how these newly infamous G Shock watches have stormed the market place. Soulja Boi, Kanye West, and Pharrell has now made these watches a statement of fashion, but the question is, is it really a fashion statement or a trend like any other gimmick out here thats just for the time being. Just how the bathing ape shoes had there rise of fame, which we rarley hear about them anymore in mainstream music now. G shock has a certain celebrity status that makes anyone who wears it outfit official. Now with the different color choices its easy to match up with a slick outfit and be stylish for the night, not to mention you have the choice to have a Casio or Bape G Shock. So is it a fashion statement or trend, or can it be both? Ill let you dedicide on the future status of the G Shock watch. I have to give a shout out to a man who knows more about this subject than me, Aaron Reid. He is a current Bape G Shock owner and he can shed his fashion knowledge on the topic.

I love g-shocks but its hard to fuck wit em when they lose they value like they recently have. I mean, just last year it was rare to find a g-shock in a store here in Detroit. Now, niggas EVERYWHERE got em. Ugh & SMH to that. Jus my opinion. Now of days I would say that the actual "exclusive" non-store bought watches are the ones that are trends and whatnot. Just my opinion tho. easy.

BTW, good post.

G-Shocks have been dope since the premier in the late 80's...seems they like to pop up every decade or so with some fresh re-releases, 1998-1999 anyone? Those HUGE joints with the velcro straps were SICK! I still have mine i copped in Hawaii. A little banged up, but like a true g-shock...takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'
